The story of Sunway Design is rooted in a tradition of commitment originated by our leader, Nelson Yong, affectionately known as ‘The Artist of Sunway.’ “Since I embarked on this journey with Sunway, I have steadfastly upheld the principles and values envisioned by our chairman: vibrancy, uniqueness, and excitement,” shared Nelson. “Every design concept I create is rooted in these values, taking me on an inspirational journey. I am passionate about transforming existing works into magnificent, unique, and timeless masterpieces.”

Among Sunway Design’s notable works is Sunway Pyramid, an iconic sight that exemplifies Nelson’s instinctual approach. Inspired by the Seven Wonders of the World, Nelson reinterpreted the Egyptian theme to astutely meet the brief of Sunway Group founder and chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah AO, who envisaged a structure that would embody vibrance, uniqueness, and timelessness. Unfazed by initial setbacks, Nelson came up with a striking lion head design that evolved from the Sphinx of Giza, producing arguably his most momentous work which has remained a hallmark of Sunway Pyramid’s identity.

Statement landmarks aside, Sunway Design has also placed its distinctive stamp on numerous residential, commercial, hospitality, educational, and hospital projects for the Group. Unique in our agility and efficiency, we have applied our design expertise to everything from showhouses and integrated townships to transportation-related applications such as custom solutions for monorail trains and vehicles and bespoke aesthetics for our chairman’s private jet, helicopter, and yacht.
